Our Holiday Home in Gjógv
Our interest started on a trip to the village Gjógv. As we were walking in the village, we saw these lovely little places where they were building these lovely holiday homes.
When we were back home, we sent a letter to the municipality to ask if we could by a plot of land. We knew that they had no plot of land in Fornagarð at the moment and it probably would be impossible later. But we certainly wanted to be on that waiting list.
One autumn day we got the letter that changed everything. We were offered to buy a plot of land in Fornagarð in Gjógv. So, our dream of designing and building our own holiday home could be real. The next couple of months we prepared us for the project. We measured, made drawings and applied the municipality for license to build our holiday home. And the first of June in 2012 we started building our house. Since then, we have found many solutions and taken many decisions in our building project.
In our project almost everything is homemade, from the first drawing line to the last painting. It was an amazing and exciting project, in which we learned a lot.
Our Holiday Home in Sandur
We bought this house in Sandur in the summer of 2021. It has been a fun journey for us turning this home into our home, even though the house wasn't built by us.
Our project in Sandur has been a different project than the one in Gjógv. In a different and exciting way.
In the upcoming years, we will think about how we can improve our home, both inside and outside.
